New route expansion and first-in-market network hardening enables secure and triverse connectivity in the growing hub of Marseille to meet rapidly increasing capacity demands

Paris is the fourth largest internet connectivity hub in the world, and Marseille, a crossroad of several major exchanges between terrestrial and submarine networks, is projected to move from the seventh to the fifth largest global internet hub in the next three years. With six new subsea cables in Marseille scheduled for completion, including key gateways to Asia, Africa and the Middle East, capacity demands in Marseille are expected to quadruple by 2026. This is creating a rapidly increasing need for enterprises to transport traffic growth from these hubs throughout Europe and to other key commerce centers across the globe.
The new Paris-to-Marseille route from Zayo provides 24 terabytes of total expected capacity per fiber pair, critical triversity options, and 400G enablement for enterprises to manage this capacity growth and ensure secure, resilient connectivity to the rest of Europe and the United States. Beyond capacity, Zayo is hardening its network with new fiber technologies, making Zayo the first carrier with this next-generation fiber on the route connecting Paris to Marseille.
The route will also provide direct access to Bordeaux—the landing city for Amitié, a new private transatlantic cable that will connect the U.S. with the UK and France. Once ready for service, the connection will enable direct access to Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
This latest investment from Zayo is part of the company’s overall strategy to overlay its European backbone and deliver high-capacity bandwidth across Europe, following the completion of its Zeus subsea cable in 2022, which provides the strongest connection between the UK and continental Europe. Zayo Group, opérateur d’infrastructures réseaux télécoms mondial, a annoncé le déploiement d’une nouvelle route 400G reliant Paris et Marseille et le renouvellement du réseau fibre historique déployé en 2000. Une première sur le marché et en s’appuyant sur des technologies de fibre de nouvelle génération, Zayo propose aux entreprises un moyen sûr et rapide pour transporter le trafic réseau en provenance des nombreux câbles sous-marins internationaux. Ces câbles qui se terminent à Marseille en font l’un des principaux nœuds de transit Internet mondial.

Paris est le quatrième nœud de transit internet au monde, et Marseille, carrefour de plusieurs échanges importants entre les réseaux terrestres et sous-marins, devrait passer du septième au cinquième rang mondial au cours des trois prochaines années. Avec l’achèvement prévu de six nouveaux câbles sous-marins à Marseille, dont des passerelles clés vers l’Asie, l’Afrique et le Moyen-Orient, les demandes de capacité à Marseille devraient quadrupler d’ici 2026. Cela crée un besoin en constante croissance pour les opérateurs et entreprises de transporter le trafic vers tous les datacentres Européens et mondiaux.
La nouvelle route Paris-Bordeaux-Marseille de Zayo offre 24 téraoctets de capacité par paire de fibres, des options de triversité critiques et des services clients jusqu’à 400G permettant aux entreprises de gérer cette croissance de capacité. Au-delà de la capacité, Zayo renforce son réseau avec de nouvelles technologies de fibre, faisant de Zayo le premier opérateur à déployer une fibre de nouvelle génération sur la route reliant Paris à Marseille. L’objectif est de pouvoir supporter les nouvelles technologies optiques 800G et supérieures qui verront le jour dans les prochaines années.
