2022 Wrap-Up: Looking Back at the Year in Channel

2022 was a massive year for the channel partner program here at Zayo. As we launch into 2023, we’re reflecting on our accomplishments and key milestones from the past year. 

From appointing a new leader to the helm of our channel program to announcing network and product expansions, it’s been a momentous year for us and we’re excited to build upon our progress in 2023. 

Here are some of our highlights on the channel partner program in 2022. 

Lynn D. Tinney joined team Zayo as the SVP of Channel and Partnerships

We kicked off 2022 with a bang, welcoming Lynn D.Tinney, SVP of Channels and Partnerships, on board. Tinney shared her aspirations at the beginning of her tenure in this blog, stating: “We have a lot of work to do, but we are on the way.”

With a lot of work on her plate, Tinney and her dedicated team have put everything into making Zayo a world-class partner organization. Over the past year, Tinney has made a pointed effort to build relevance between Zayo and partners and foster mutual commitment. She spoke with Craig and James from Channel Futures on their podcast about the progress we’ve been making and divulged her secrets to a successful partnership on the Channel Journeys podcast, as well.

We’re so thankful for Lynn’s leadership and her continued commitment to Zayo and our partners. We weren’t at all surprised to see her listed as one of Channel Futures’ top network and connectivity channel leaders in 2022 and we’re excited to see what she will accomplish in 2023.

We expanded and fortified our network

2022 was a year of growth for both the channel program and Zayo in general as we expanded our network map and upgraded our network to 400G from coast to coast in the US, enabling greater capacity for our customers to build what’s next. You can revisit our webinar on-demand to explore these expansions and exactly what this means for our customers and partners.

Aside from expanding our terrestrial fiber network, we launched an exciting new subsea route, Zeus, connecting the financial powerhouse of London to mainland Europe via the Netherlands. This new fiber is double armored and boasts the highest fiber count of any cable connecting the UK and mainland Europe and was designed specifically for speed, security, and reliability. 

What’s more, we’ve committed to our customers by improving on-time delivery performance and investing in our service delivery team to improve the Zayo customer experience across the board. Stay tuned for more details about our service delivery improvements in 2023!

We introduced a robust portfolio of edge solutions, including SD-WAN

Team Zayo was excited to welcome QOS Networks and their expansive suite of market-leading edge solutions in 2022. With this acquisition, Zayo is now able to deliver a state-of-the-art SD-WAN offering and a spectrum of additional edge services and solutions to new and existing customers. To inform our partners about this solution and offer a guide on selling SD-WAN solutions, we created this comprehensive Q&A eBook with our friends at Telarus.

We hosted our first-ever partner advisory board

Perhaps one of our favorite milestones in 2022 was hosting our first-ever Partner Advisory Board in November. It was a privilege to hear from industry-leading partners about how Zayo is doing and where we could improve. We heard our partners’ feedback loud and clear and are putting in work behind the scenes to make sure that feedback is translated into meaningful change. 

We meet monthly with our advisory board to continue to improve our program on all fronts. They are helping us be a better vendor for our mutual customers. 2023 promises to be a breakthrough year for Zayo and our partners. 

Allstream reintegrated into the Zayo family

Finally, we welcomed Allstream’s product suite under the Zayo umbrella. Allstream’s voice and connectivity tools will create new opportunities for our mid sized enterprise customers in North America. You can hear more about how Allstream and Zayo will continue to work together to provide the best possible experience for our customers here. We will share more information about this development in 2023!

Preparing for what’s next in 2023 

Zayo has done the heavy lifting to integrate all three of these programs to deliver a best-in-class partner experience. Our partners will see a new contract and program guide in early January. We will be at Channel Partners in May in force and will be launching a new partner certification program. Be sure to find us there.
