Zayo announced today the completion of a network upgrade which enables Zayo to provide 100G wavelength services over its long-haul European network. Zayo’s long-haul network extends from London to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Paris, and Paris to London.
Zayo has expanded its existing contract with quad-play operator TalkTalk, enabling the carrier to offer enhanced services to its 4 million customers in the UK. The contract provides TalkTalk with several UK network services, including: 10G wavelengths within the UK and across Europe, an increase in IP transit service speeds from 30G to 50G, and 10G transatlantic services from London to New York.
Virtustream has selected Zayo to provide fibre connectivity to its data centres in London. The project is expected to be completed by the end of May 2014. Zayo will also provide managed WDM services between Virtustream’s data centres and Telehouse East.
Geo owns and operates a high capacity fiber network in the UK, providing managed networks, dark fiber and colocation services to a variety of high-bandwidth sectors including media companies, service providers, financial services, data centers and gaming organizations.
The awards recognise innovative thinking and execution as a collaboration between at least one operator and vendor. Zayo was recognised for its 2013 project with SSE Telecoms, undertaking a major UK network expansion that enabled SSE to extend its connectivity services into over 20 BT exchanges and 20 data centres across London.
Geo announced a significant extension of its metro infrastructure to Croydon, South London. The 14.5km expansion will connect Geo’s optical fibre network to London’s largest development centre, enhancing services to existing customers and providing dedicated fibre to new businesses investing in Croydon.
Zayo has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Neo Telecoms, a Paris-based Bandwidth Infrastructure company. The acquisition adds 350 metro route miles in Paris and more than 500 on-net buildings to Zayo’s network. Neo also operates 9 colocation centers across France, offering more than 36,000 square feet of data center space.
Zayo announced a significant extension to its infrastructure in West London. The move sees Geo deploy a new diverse route from the area to Staples Corner, North West London, home to several existing data centre operators, and onward to the City and Docklands. Benefits include faster access to key London data centre sites as well as lower latency for new and existing customers.
Geo Networks Ltd (Geo), the leading provider of dedicated fibre networks, has provisioned a dedicated fibre solution to managed service provider Coreix Limited (Coreix) to directly connect its two primary London facilities. Coreix now benefits from a secure, scalable route between its operations at Virtus, Enfield and the London Hosting Centre, Docklands.
Zayo announced a UK network expansion that enhances service offerings to customers east of London. The new 53-mile fibre network, which stretches as far as Basildon in Essex, doubles the reach of Zayo’s network in London. This is Zayo’s second major investment in the UK since November, when the company announced a network expansion in the London and Slough areas.
Zayo has been selected by the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) to supply fiber connectivity between the multiple data centers in the United States where AMS-IX New York operates its Internet peering platform.
