Zayo Selected as an Authorized Provider for National Coalition of Research & Education Networks

The Quilt coalition includes 900 universities and thousands of educational institutions

Consistent with Zayo’s vertical segment strategy, we’re placing renewed focus on the education and the public sectors. That’s why the recent notification that we have been selected as an Authorized Quilt Provider (AQP) for IP Solutions is especially great news. The Quilt is a national coalition of non-profit regional research and education (R&E) networks, with a mission of facilitating advanced networking services for its member institutions.

Increasingly, The Quilt members rely on high-performance bandwidth for moving large data files and data analytics, cloud-based tools and real-time collaboration. The quality, reliability and speed of the network are critical for these data-intensive functions.

“We look forward to working with the Quilt community to provide high-bandwidth IP solutions as well as to explore how they might benefit from our broader global communications infrastructure offerings.”

As an AQP, Zayo can now provide IP solutions to Quilt members, including 40 regional educational networks across the country, 900 universities and thousands of other educational and community anchor institutions. “Reliable, high-quality connectivity enables the research and education community to be at the forefront of clinical, environmental and scientific research,” said Brad Kilbey, senior vice president, Sales, for the Public Sector, Healthcare & Utilities segment. “We look forward to working with the Quilt community to provide high-bandwidth IP solutions as well as to explore how they might benefit from our broader global communications infrastructure offerings.”

Zayo serves numerous schools, universities, research institutions and Federal agencies — and momentum is accelerating. During the first quarter of this year, more than 20 school districts selected Zayo infrastructure funded through E-rate, a Federal program that subsidizes internet infrastructure for schools and libraries.

“Zayo’s solutions, delivered over their extensive global fiber footprint, will support our members’ needs for secure, reliable, high-performance bandwidth.”

Like many of Zayo’s other educational clients, the Quilt selected Zayo through a rigorous RFP process because of its fiber network, technical competence, peering point locations and world-class customer support.

“Zayo has a strong reputation for delivering the consistent performance that our members, and the institutions they support,” said Jen Leasure, president and CEO. “Zayo’s solutions, delivered over their extensive global fiber footprint, will support our members’ needs for secure, reliable, high-performance bandwidth.”
