ZAYO ENTERPRISE NETWORKS ANNOUNCES NEWLY-FORMED EASTERN REGION
Company Strengthens Executive Team with Recognized Telecom Veteran Joe McCourt
LOUISVILLE, Colo. – July 7, 2010 – Zayo Enterprise Networks, a regional provider of fiber-based bandwidth solutions for carrier, enterprise and government customers, announced today the formation of its new Eastern
Region. This region will incorporate robust fiber assets gained through the recent AGLN acquisition in both Charlotte and Atlanta.
These networks include more than 500 route miles of dense, metro fiber assets, with access to almost 200 key data centers, carrier POPs and end user enterprise buildings. Zayo will provide dedicated fiber as well as lit services in the form of Ethernet, Internet access and high capacity wavelengths.
“The formation of the Eastern Region is a significant step forward for our company.” said Glenn Russo, President of Zayo Enterprise Networks. “This new region with its dense fiber networks allows us to provide services to more customers than ever before.”
To lead the region, the company has named Joe McCourt its new Vice President and General Manager. McCourt, a telecom veteran, brings 23 years of telecom experience to the company. As Vice President of the Eastern Region, McCourt will be responsible for standing up the operation using legacy AGL networks as the building blocks for the region. Prior to Zayo, McCourt worked at DukeNet Communications as the VP of Sales and Customer Operations. Joe was selected to develop, build and manage the Enterprise Sales strategy for DukeNet in addition to his other duties.
Before this, he served as the SVP of Sales in Level 3 Communications’ Business Markets Group.
“I am excited to be on the Zayo team and look forward to leading the formation and growth of the Eastern Region. Customers in Charlotte and Atlanta will now have a choice in the competitive telecom space for Managed Dark Fiber as well as lit services.” said McCourt.
