We totaled our employee volunteer hours for the past 18 months and the number is impressive: 700 employees have donated 2,500 hours of time to 70 organizations and events. Thanks to our engaged and generous employees for all they do throughout the year — to mentoring students and more junior employees, cycling and raising funds for the B Strong Ride Against Cancer or cleaning up the community as part of our Green Team initiative.
This volunteer time and our personal and company donations are especially important over the holidays. Zayo’s global offices have pitched in for a variety of causes and organizations. As part of our team celebrations, there were a number of different groups within Zayo volunteering this year. Here are some highlights:
The Strategic Network Groups volunteered at A Precious Child in Broomfield as part of their holiday team building celebrations to give back to the community. 35+ Zayo volunteers joined together in early December to bring holiday joy to children along the Colorado Front Range. In a matter of three hours, they helped sort, hang, size and re-stock approximately 1,750 pounds of donations to serve 295 kiddos!
That’s on top of the Denver and Boulder office seasonal commitment to A Precious Child, which included gifts for 75 children, donated by employees. Other Zayo teams volunteered for organizing and wrapping gifts, helping fulfill wishes for 1,500 children.
The Denver Tech Center office focused their holiday giving efforts to Colorado Children’s Hospital by donating to their toy drive and volunteering at two craft days at the hospital. They donated more than 100 toys and brightened young patients’ faces by facilitating craft sessions and decorating holiday wreaths and Christmas trees.
Other Denver and Boulder Zayoites filled 27 spots at Amp the Cause, a Denver-based nonprofit organization that improves the lives of families through entertainment, annual events and community service projects. Zayo volunteers brought the magic of the holiday season to over 1,800 children from Title 1 schools. Local children were able to participate in the ultimate holiday party complete with arts and crafts, balloon artists, face painters, a visit with Santa, and plenty of gifts.
The Tulsa office filled boxes with donations for the children and families of James Mission. Clothes, shoes, coats and toiletries were some of the items the team collected as part of their office charity initiative. Other Zayoites dedicated a few hours of their day spreading holiday cheer by volunteering at James Mission.
Working together to give back to the community reminds us of what’s really important. Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season.
