Arialink and Memorial Healthcare will be hosting a ground breaking ceremony to launch their new fiber optic network. This new fiber optic venture will connect 12 rural healthcare facilities to Arialink’s Healthcare ONE (Optical Network Exchange) and allows them to communicate with the community—and the world—at the speed of light.

WHY:
The “information super highway” project will heighten patient safety and ensure privacy by connecting Memorial Healthcare to its 12 off-campus health care facilities at the speed of light. Now more physicians, hospitals and patients will have the fastest, most state-of-the-art technology in the world regardless of their location. This will also allow businesses throughout the community to connect to the fiber optic internet service that was previously not available.

Established in 2003, Arialink is the Lansing area’s largest provider of high speed fiber optic internet and phone service. With nearly 600 miles of fiber webbing the center of the state, Arialink offers speed-of-light service and direct fiber optic peering to major Internet hubs in Chicago and Washington D.C.
Memorial Healthcare is an accredited, 150-bed facility located in Owosso, Michigan. The hospital also operates satellite offices located throughout Shiawassee County. Memorial Healthcare is the only hospital in Shiawassee County, serving a population of approximately 100,000.
