Apr 2, 2014 - Zayo announced a major expansion to its Northern California fiber network. The expansion adds 550 route miles of Dark Fiber in the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout downtown San Francisco and the surrounding communities of Oakland, Berkeley, Palo Alto, San Jose, Walnut Creek and Fairfield. Construction on the project will start in May 2014 and is scheduled for completion in June 2016.
Mar 28, 2014 - Zayo announces an expansion in its Mount Prospect, Ill., colocation facility, located at 800 E. Business Center Dr. Zayo acquired the 82,000 sq. ft. facility in August of 2013, At time of purchase, the site had approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of developed data center space. Recent network growth demands of two major internet/content delivery customers prompted a $12 million infrastructure investment to develop the facility. zColo will add 20,000 sq ft of datacenter floor space and 2 Megawatts of utility capacity in a fully redundant N+1 environment, resulting in approximately 32,000 sq ft of total datacenter space and 4 Megawatts of utility power.
Mar 27, 2014 - Zayo has deployed a 100G wavelengths network from New York to Ashburn, Va. The new route provides diverse connectivity from the existing Zayo 100G route following the I-95 corridor. The 100G route expansion will accommodate high bandwidth demand driven by cloud computing and financial customers in the region, and those needing diverse connectivity between New York and Ashburn.
Mar 26, 2014 - Zayo has extended its network into Continuum Data Center's 603 Discovery Dr. West data center in Chicago’s western suburbs. The two companies also have executed a joint marketing and partnership agreement. Its Chicago dark fiber network will enable the data center access to Zayo’s full suite of services, including wavelengths, Ethernet, IP services and SONET services.e

Mar 6, 2014 - Zayo announced that it has acquired CoreXchange, Inc., a data center, bandwidth and managed services provider in Dallas, Texas. The purchase adds one new data center, located at 8600 Harry Hines Blvd, to the zColo portfolio. In addition, zColo will secure an additional 12,000 square feet in CoreXchange’s suite at its existing data center in the Dallas Infomart at 1950 N. Stemmons Freeway.
Mar 5, 2014 - Zayo announced a network expansion in the Kansas City, Missouri, market. The expansion includes a 16.6-mile dark fiber ring in North Kansas City, referred to locally as “Northland.” The newly covered region will complement Zayo’s existing fiber in the Kansas City central business district and Overland Park.
