BOULDER, CO – September 25, 2014 — Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo”), a global provider of bandwidth infrastructure services, today announced it has established a presence in BYTEGRID’s 214,000 sq. ft. Silver Spring, Maryland data center, enabling BYTEGRID customers to connect to Zayo’s extensive dark fiber network.
Under the agreement, Zayo will offer its bandwidth infrastructure and network transport solutions through BYTEGRID’s “Maryland Connect” program, an Internet exchange focused on providing an interconnected capacity and connectivity ecosystem for customers. The agreement will enable BYTEGRID’s enterprise, government and service provider customers to connect to Zayo’s network, which spans more than 77,000 route miles in over 295 markets, and includes over 14,000 on-net buildings across the U.S. and Europe.
“Zayo continues to expand its network throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. to meet customer bandwidth demands,” said John Real, vice president of strategic channels. “Connecting to BYTEGRID’s Silver Spring, Maryland data center enables us to provide our services to the data center’s small and large commercial enterprise and government customers.”
“BYTEGRID welcomes Zayo to our Silver Spring, Maryland data center and to Maryland Connect,” said Don Goodwin, BYTEGRID’s Executive Vice President for Leasing and Marketing. “Zayo’s global presence and emphasis on virtually unlimited capacity and reliability is consistent with our own growth strategies here in the mid-Atlantic and nationally. Together we look forward to providing high bandwidth infrastructure and data center solutions to new and existing customers.”
