Low-latency network to enable high-resolution digital imaging
BOULDER, Colo. – November 16, 2016 – Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO) was selected by an integrated healthcare provider in the southeast for a high-bandwidth connectivity solution. The multi-product solution, which includes Ethernet, wavelengths and Connect to Cloud, will connect more than 60 locations and two data centers to facilitate transport of high-resolution digital imaging among the customer’s hospitals and medical facilities.
Zayo will leverage and expand its existing Charlotte, N.C. network for the customer and add short, low-latency extensions to two data centers in the Charlotte Metropolitan area. The Connect to Cloud solution also provides connectivity over Zayo’s 100G Ethernet backbone to a public cloud provider via Zayo’s on-ramp in Ashburn, Virginia. This will enable the customer to efficiently scale its IT infrastructure.
“Zayo’s solution will provide the capacity and latency that the customer requires for their high-bandwidth applications, especially imaging,” said Amanda Tierney, executive vice president of Network Connectivity at Zayo. “It also provides critical network diversity so operations can continue in the event of a natural disaster or other disruption.”
Healthcare providers are increasingly upgrading and “future-proofing” their infrastructure to accommodate high-resolution imaging, telemedicine, personalized medicine and even life-critical applications. Zayo is well-positioned to serve this industry with dedicated, secure, high-capacity fiber connectivity and a growing footprint of secure data centers for colocation and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions.
Zayo expects to see continued demand for its network investments in Charlotte, which is a center for finance and banking, health and biotechnology, media, transportation and government. Charlotte is among the nation’s fastest growing cities.
