JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager will be responsible for implementing engineering designs to install customer colocation products and services – cabinets, cages, power, backbone communication cables & panels.  Project Manager will own end-to-end milestone management, budget tracking & reporting and identification & resolution of issues to ensure on time, on budget and on specification completion of projects. An effective PM will work closely with engineers, track & report real-time updates and have detailed knowledge of assigned projects.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall Project Management

  • Develop overall plan for the project
  • Provide budget forecast updates
  • Apply customer priorities to project
  • Critical Path identification and key issue resolution
  • Vendor relationship management
  • Anticipation, mitigation and escalation of project issues as required

 

Transition Management and Documentation

  • Ensuring clean hand off of completed work to Operations and Customer
  • Ensure redlines & power assignments are properly recorded and placed in appropriate repository
  • Ensure an appropriate close out package is built and reviewed prior to delivery to Operations
  • Ensure delivery of all documentation contractually required.

 

Project Budget

  • Set up and manage budget, purchase requests/orders, invoicing and documentation of receivables
  • Pro-actively manage budget variances and overruns
  • Notify management of potential overruns
  • Provide analysis of cost overruns
  • Owns notifying Product of incremental costs such as NetOps and NetEx

 

Communication

  • Set up periodic status calls with Service Delivery, SBC team and Operations to notify of progress & issues
  • Have periodic calls with customer as required
  • Daily calls if required to manage critical path items that could severely jeopardize delivery timeline
  • Management of project related change controls
  • Engage with Product teams – proactively and reactively – to ensure funding of customer Opportunities

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering field preferred
  • Project management experience, preferably in the telecommunications / data center industry
  • Experience managing capital projects > $250K
  • Must be able to manage multiple aggressive design construction schedules
  • Must be able to understand and read construction documents
  • Working knowledge of Datacenter infrastructure – Power, Cooling, Security, Communications
  • Business minded and able to maintain a commercial focus
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, AutoCAD Viewers software
  • Travel is a requirement – Must have current US drivers license and passport
  • The employee will be required occasionally to meet with customers and internal support teams to review project scope and to ensure positive communication is maintained
